The King’s Hall exists to make self-ruled men to rule well and win the world. What does that mean? Let’s break it down:

Self-Ruled Men

One of our guiding mottos is “Vincit qui se vincit,” which means, “He conquers who conquers himself.” This is one of the foundation stones in what we’re building with The King’s Hall. A self-ruled man—ruled by the Spirit of God and so able to rule his own spirit with wisdom, zeal, and discipline—is a man who is dangerous in all the right ways.

Men who will not rule themselves, who will not say to their spirit, “Bend the knee to the Lord Jesus Christ,” will find themselves ruled by all manner of cruel tyrants. They will find themselves under the yoke of their own lusts. They will find themselves under the heavy hand of wicked men. They will be endangered men, not dangerous men. They will be enslaved men, not free men.

The King’s Hall is a place to form self-ruled men, ruled by the Triune God—and so able to live in true freedom.

Who Rule Well

If the trunk of the tree is the self-ruled man, the branches spread out in all sorts of directions from there. What does a godly, self-ruled man do?

He makes things and sells things. He builds houses. He marries a wife and makes a flock of kids. He disciples those kids. He starts businesses and schools and homeschool coops and legacies. He fights wars and writes books and makes music. He raises livestock and grows crops. He makes things out of wood and metal and stone and silicon chips.

See what we’re getting at? For starters, this podcast isn’t just about masculinity. It’s a lot bigger than that. The King’s Hall is a place to discuss a far-ranging swathe of topics and issues—all wound around the kern that holds the rope together: Self-ruled men ruling well.

We're about making godly kings who can go into every area of life and rule well there, right where the Lord deploys them—and so you can expect a podcast with both depth and range.

And Win the World

Finally, we’re not just aiming to make Christian men who rule well, who build Christian culture, Christian families, and Christian communities, but men who do that for the sake of the the Missio Dei, the mission of God—which is… What, exactly?

Nothing less than the winning of the world. The task the Author of this story has given to you—small though you may be in light of a plot that encompasses all of history—is nothing less than seeing the world won, seeing the world conquered and colonized and baptized and discipled.

Everything we do is aimed at the winning of the world. And so the other foundational motto we build on is festina lente, which means make haste slowly. This is a long game. We’re building for the next Christendom, for the next millennium, for the ages, not for the next 6 months.
